Tracking with DriveStrike: An Overview
The ability to remotely locate devices is an important feature for any MDM solution, especially for companies that have remote workers, offices in cities and other areas with a high crime rate, and work that involves a lot of travel. Mobile Device Management must address device security as a top priority. If a device is lost or stolen, it is important to locate it immediately to determine whether a remote wipe is needed to protect the data.

Tracking and Geo Locating Windows Laptops
- Locate Devices from the DriveStrike Device page – you can request and initiate an immediate location fix. DriveStrike captures and records public and private IP Address information, Wi-Fi triangulation, and GPS coordinates. DriveStrike automatically uses the highest resolution possible first and falls back to less accurate location information when more detailed and granular location information is not available.
- Periodic Reporting is always enabled and recorded when the device’s location data changes from the last recorded location by more than 10 meters.
- Mapping Location Data is easy with our easy to understand user interface. Simply expand the Location panel and enter the number of location pins as well as the spacing between pins and the map will refresh your display to show you the locations desired. Using the group locations feature ensures that location pins are not stacked on top of each other when they are within the specified distance from each other.
- Web Control: DriveStrike works securely over the Internet, so you can easily track, locate, lock, and wipe your devices anytime, anywhere.

Tracking and Geo Locating iPhones

We don’t currently capture the GPS location on the iPhone unless the device is placed in Supervised Mode prior to installing the DriveStrike iOS MDM profile on the device. If you have enabled Supervised Mode then you can place the device in Lost Mode and obtain the location easily. In the future we will have a companion app that will report the devices location as we do on other platforms. Look for an update on when we have full location reporting support on iOS.

Upcoming DriveStrike Device Tracking Features
In the future we will have additional elements available to set location and tracking default settings so that your entire fleet of laptops and mobile devices are managed the same.
